Overview

Transit vehicles and mobile offices need two carriers bonded, PoE for cameras and validators, and a router that outlives one generation of modem.

The Peplink MAX HD2 MBX carries two LTE-A modems with four mini-SIM slots, three gigabit Ethernet WANs, nine gigabit LAN ports with up to eight 802.3at PoE+ outputs, dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and GPS. Routing is 2.5 Gbps with 600 Mbps of SpeedFusion for 50 to 500 users. The CAT-12 model for the Americas runs 600 Mbps downlink per modem; the CAT-18 Global model runs higher.

It runs from 12V to 56V DC or the included 54V supply, rated -40 to 65 °C in a 3.3 kg metal chassis, and the cellular module swaps for the HD2 MBX 5G Expansion Module when the fleet moves to 5G. Peplink lists the CAT-12 model as FirstNet Capable.
