The Peplink MAX BR1 Mini has no serial port, and utility meters, SCADA sensors, scales, and older site equipment still communicate over RS-232. This adapter plugs into the BR1 Mini's USB port and provides a DB9 RS-232 serial connector, so a serial device reaches the network through the router while the Ethernet LAN port stays free for a wired device.
